Sometimes a buzzword is so ubiquitous that it’s easy to assume its subject will succeed, and today ‘agency model’ is one such example.
Referring to the transition from retailers handling car sales to car makers doing so – paying retailers a handling fee rather than commission – it is, in its most boiled-down form, driven by car makers chasing greater profits.

So an Autocar writer didn't get an employee fawning over them and declares the whole business model dead?. Seems a balanced approach! How about asking a regular, busy buyer? My last 4 cars, all ordered new, had to use a dealer. All useless (no idea on tech, any questions on delivery and they were just a middle man in talking the the manufacturer anyway!). My latest Volvo? Test drive came to my work, car ordered online. Due in 6 months to be delivered to my door. Never needed to talk to some sales guy who then had to 'ask his manager.'. (As you can tell, I have a very negative view of 1970's culture car selling!)
