Kia will reveal its replacement for the Rio hatch at next month’s Detroit Motor Show. Although shown in four-door guise for the US-market, the Ford Focus rival will be launched as a five-door hatchback in the UK next summer, with a choice of 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol engines and the 80bhp 1.5-litre diesel already used in Kia parent company Hyundai’s Getz and Matrix. Kia says the new car has a longer wheelbase, wider track and more horsepower than its predecessor.
Kia will also use Detroit to unveil a 4x4 concept for the US market called KCD II.
