Audi’s next TT was scooped by Autocar last week, so you might think now’s a good time to get a great deal on the current model. Even five years after its launch however, TT waiting lists still run to three months, so the chance of a discount is slim. And used cars from franchised forecourts aren’t much better. Audi Walton-on-Thames had plenty of motors available when we inquired, but the cheapest was a three-year-old 225bhp coupé with 37,000 miles, for a whisker under £20k – almost 10 per cent more than we’d expect. An ex-demo 3.2-litre DSG was up for £29,995 – £250 above list.
On the private market, the cheapest we could find were 1999 left-hand drive 180bhp cars with up to six figures on the clock, for over £10k. Right-hookers start at £13.5k, and if you want 3.2-litre V6 power (right), you’ll do well to fork out less than £27,000 for it. A better bet could be a pre-registered delivery mileage model.
