Croatian super car produces 1073bhp, can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.8sec and hits 190mph

Croatian manufacturer Rimac Automobili has produced an 190mph electric super car called the Rimac Concept One, which was on display for the first time at Frankfurt motor show.

The battery-powered Rimac Concept One weighs 1650kgs and produces 1073bhp. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.8sec. The potential top speed is about 190mph. Rimac reckons that on a fully charge Concept One has a range of 375 miles.

The electric super car's powertrain is divided into four sub-systems, each consisting of one motor, inverter and reduction gearbox. Each system powers a wheel, making the Concept One all-wheel drive.

Rimac claims the powertrain enables a new approach to vehicle dynamics that it calls 'All Wheel Torque Vectoring'. Each wheel can independently accelerate or decelerate hundreds of times per second, helping to achieve the desired handling as selected by the driver from the cockpit.

The carbonfibre body of the Rimac Concept One was designed by Adriano Mudri and the interior is styled by a team of former Pininfarina employees.

The Concept One will be produced just outside Zagreb in Croatia and 88 examples of the car will go on sale in 2013.

The price is not known at this stage, but company boss, 23-year-old entrepreneur Mate Rimac, is targeting Pagani, Koenigsegg and Bugatti with his new super car – so expect a six-figure price tag.
