Leaked images show striking new design of 650S successor; it will be officially revealed at the Geneva motor show next week

The McLaren 720S has been leaked on to the internet one week before the 650S successor is officially revealed in Geneva.

212mph McLaren 720S revealed at Geneva motor show

McLaren’s future Super Series model sports a completely new and much sharper front-end design. The picture, leaked by Bloomberg - which has since removed the image  - shows the model with its dihedral doors lifted. It also confirms the name as 720S, which suggests it will have 720PS (710bhp) in the same naming strategy as the previous generation.

A first image of the car leaked five weeks ago via @woppum’s Instagram account, which showed the car's sides feature prominent aerodynamic bodywork; McLaren has already said that the car is twice as aerodynamically efficient as the current 650S.

McLaren P14: 650S successor to get new driver display system

McLaren’s familiar side intakes have been ditched for smoother panels, and the car’s roofline is also quite different from that of the outgoing car, thanks to its new Monocage II structure.

McLaren has already confirmed that the 720S will use a new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and get upgraded brakes. The model, codenamed P14, will achieve 0-124mph in 7.8sec and a standing quarter mile in 10.3secs, and will come to a standstill from 124mph in 4.6sec and 117 metres, according to the Woking-based firm.

Earlier spy pictures showed the car’s rear design more clearly. The wide tail-light design of the 650S has been swapped for thinner light strips. The test cars also featured twin-tail-pipe exhausts that exited in the middle of the rear.

Stunning

This looks way better than I expected it to (the 650s a pretty high chinning bar after all). Just hope it retains the family McLaren look from the front. Awsome!
