Special edition Vanquish Volante models will be the first to go on sale in America

A special edition has spearheaded the American launch of the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, the limited run making its world premiere at the LA motor show.

Just 10 examples of the Neiman Marcus Edition Vanquish Volante will be built by Q by Aston Martin, the firm’s customisation arm.

The car has been created in conjunction with dealer Galpin Aston Martin and appears in the prestigious 2013 Neiman Marcus Fantasy Christmas Catalogue. Aston Martin says the model was inspired by the Prince of Wales’s DB6 Volante.

The Seychelles Blue paint is matched to the Prince of Wales’s DB6, and it features an Atlantic Blue roof and sterling silver badges. The cabin counts black leather trim with blue welt, a One-77 steering wheel, walnut veneer dash inserts and a matching luggage set among its bespoke features.

The Neiman Marcus Edition Vanquish Volante is priced at $344,500 (£214,300), some $46,500 (£29,000) more than the standard car.

Open-top Vanquish excels as a fine-looking potent cruiser, but Aston isn’t the showstopper that its £200k price demands

'...inspired by the Prince of Wales's DB6'

Then why not go the whole hog and fit the DB6's chrome wires too?

Another derivative Aston

Sorry to say but the Vanquish Volante is just another derivative product from Aston Martin. The exterior is an awful mish-mash of Porsche, Ford, Ferrari and Mercedes. The front looks just like a Ford Fusion, the side design is a carbon copy of the Ferrari F12 with more than a hint of the Mercedes SL and the rear lights and the bumper and diffuser units have been lifted straight out the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. Utterly shameless.

Wood Trim

Do people still order cars with wood trim like this? Reminds me of the 'wood' trim on my 2000 Fiesta Ghia.
