Honda has revealed a new generation of its Uni-Cub personal mobility concept at the Tokyo motor show today.
The original Uni-Cub, first seen last year, has been re-designed to become a near-production ready concept in the form of the Uni-Cub β. Honda says the personal mobility device features "balance control technology and an omni-directional driving wheel system".
The model weighs 25kg and is powered by an electric motor, giving it a travelling range of three miles and a top speed of 3mph.
It is derived from Honda's research into humanoid robots, such as its Asimo design. The knowledge learned allows the Uni-Cub β to move forward, backward, side-to-side and diagonally when the rider shifts their body weight in the intended direction.
Honda plans to lease the Uni-Cub β to Japanese businesses and organisations.
