Bond to stick with new Aston

James Bond is to stick with British manufacturer Aston Martin for his next adventure – and he could be one of the first to drive the firm’s next model as a result.

Aston confirmed this morning that it has signed a deal with Eon Productions to ensure that Bond stays with the brand in Casino Royale, which is due for release this November. The company declined to provide details of the car that will be used, beyond revealing that it will be called the DBS. Sources have hinted that it could be an updated version of the Vanquish. Only a rough sketch of the model has been issued.

Aston boss Dr Ulrich Bez said, “It is great news that Bond will drive an Aston Martin again and we have built him something special to enable him to do his job in style.” To mark the occasion, Bez met with Daniel Craig, who is taking over the Bond role from Pierce Brosnan. The actor toured the Aston factory and took a short test drive.

Bond and Aston have had a long association since he drove a DB5 in Goldfinger in 1964, although in Ian Fleming’s original Casino Royale short story he used a Bentley. He has also flirted with German manufacturers, driving BMWs in Goldeneye , Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is not Enough.
