Volvo claims the high-performance V60, built by its Polestar division, will be the world’s “safest safety car”. It has been specially modified with a roll cage as well as the rescue and communication equipment required to meet the standards set by the FIA and WTCC promoter Eurosport Events.

The V60 Polestar is powered by a 345bhp, 369lb ft turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six engine and will be present at all 12 race weekends in the WTCC season.

Polestar will be racing the Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 in the WTCC this year with motorsport partner Cyan Racing.
