The face-lifted 2015 Toyota Prius+ will cost from £26,995, with the first cars being delivered to customers in January 2015.

The seven-seater hybrid MPV Prius+ has been updated for 2015, and gets a new look and a revised trim line-up.

The front end has been restyled, featuring a new upper grille and a more prominent Toyota badge. The lower part of the front end gets the same trapezoidal styling that features on other recent Toyota models, such as the recently face-lifted Yaris.

At the rear there are new lights, a new licence plate surround and an integrated diffuser. Inside, there is a new dark silver metallic finish, on the switchgear and a new 4.2-inch colour touch-screen, which comes with the latest Toyota Touch 2 multimeda system.

Toyota also says it has improved the Prius+'s ride and handling.

The 1.8-litre petrol engine and electric motor combination in the Prius+ remains largely unchanged, but it has been tweaked to comply with Euro 6 emission regulations. It emits 96g/km CO2 and averages 68.9mpg when fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels. This rises to 101g/km and 64.2mpg when the 17-inch alloys are fitted.

There are now three trim levels to choose from, with a new range-topping Excel Plus joining the existing Icon and Excel models.

The entry-level Icon comes with 16-inch alloys, auto lights and wipers, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, a reversing camera, keyless entry and start LED headlights, heated front seats, automatic air-conditioning and cruise control.

Excel trim adds 17-inch alloys, adaptive cruise control, park assist and a pre-crash safety system. The new Excel Plus trim adds leather seats and two DVD players with individual screens for the back-seat passengers.

The entry-level price has risen by £850 as a result of the changes, and the Icon trim now costs £26,995, the Excel £29,245 and the Excel Plus costs £31,245.

There are a few options that can be added, including a sat-nav upgrade for £750, a parking pack for £550 and a protection pack for £325.

Toyota has also added two new colours to the range, with a Sienna Bronze and Galaxy Black now available. The 2015 Prius+ is available to order now, with the first cars delivered in January.

Bigger seven-seat Prius makes for a practical, sub-100g/km MPV. Chassis adequate, but noisy acceleration, an indifferent cabin and steep prices count against it
