Currently reading: America joins the supercar set

A new 200mph American supercar, the Mosler, could be imported and sold in Britainas soon as next year.

The MT900S uses a 435bhp 5.7-litre Corvette V8 mounted amidships and a carbonfibre monocoque to keep the dry weight down to 998kg – lighter than many superminis.

The US-spec car has been timed at ‘200mph-plus’ and claims a 0-60mph time of 3.5sec, although homologation for a European model could alter those figures.

Adjustable dampers let owners tweak the double-wishbone suspension set-up and the car rides on fat 19-inch 255/40 tyres up front and 20-inch 295/40 rubber at the rear.

Standard kit includes air-con, remote locking and electric windows. The road car costs $159,000 (£91,000).

A track-spec car, (pictured) is also available.
