Citroën has improved choice on its C2 and C3 superminis. A new 90bhp 1.4 petrol powerplant slots into the C3 range, while both C2 and C3 diesels become available with Citroën's SensoDrive paddleshift gearbox.

The new C3 petrol model costs £9,542 until Citroën's 'VAT Back' offer ends next month, positioning it between the £9,295 1.4-litre and the £12,295 1.6. It is SensoDrive-equipped, offers a claimed 47mpg on the combined cycle and a top speed of 112mph.

Standard equipment on the newly-powered supermini includes anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, four airbags and automatic air conditioning.

Citroën has also extended its clutchless paddleshift gearbox to the C2 and C3 common rail diesels. Its new 1.4HDi Furio SensoDrive comes in at £10,195, a £1200 premium over the paddleshift-equipped petrol Furio.
