Caterham's light fantastic

Caterham is making the already ballistic CSR260 even more potent, with a new Superlight version going on sale in October.

The Superlight uses the same Cosworth 2.3-litre unit as the standard CSR260, but aims to provide a more track-focused experience, with uprated dampers and a limited-slip differential as standard.

As you’d expect, given the name, the Superlight is also 25kg lighter, the weight reduction being achieved by forgoing luxuries like a heater, carpets and a windscreen. With a power-to-weight ratio of 460bhp per tonne, the CSR rockets from 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph.

The CSR Superlight 260 costs from £37,995 – £995 more than the standard CSR260.
