Volkswagen introduces the range-topping V6 4Motion Passat

Volkswagen buyers wanting a touch of Golf R32 DNA in their Passat saloon or estate can now order its 247bhp 3.2-litre FSI direct-injection V6 engine.

The flagship petrol engine is mated to VW Group’s six-speed dual-clutch (DSG) gearbox and power is fed to all four wheels via 4Motion four-wheel drive as standard.

Priced at £24,695 for the Sport or £25,380 for the SEL (plus an extra £1075 if you want an estate) the V6 accelerates from 0-62 mph in 6.9sec and on to 153mph (7.2sec and 151mph for the estate). But company car users are likely to be put off by CO2 emissions of 240g/km for the saloon and 242g/km for the estate.

A more tax-friendly diesel flagship is set to follow when the 170bhp version of the 2.0-litre turbodiesel arrives later in the year.
