Morgan to build Aeromax Coupé

The Morgan Motor Company has announced that it will build the Aeromax Coupé, first revealed as a concept at the 2005 Geneva motor show.

The Worcestershire firm will build a limited run of just 100 cars, starting in January 2008, at a rate of one to two cars a week.

The Aeromax was designed by a 21-year-old design student, Matthew Humphries,, who sent his sketches to Morgan boss Charles Morgan. Morgan liked the designs so much that he built them, but it has taken over a year of research to ready the car for limited production.

Underneath, the Aeromax is mechanically identical to the Aero roadster, with a 4.4-litre BMW V8 and a six-speed ZF gearbox. Expect 0-60mph in under 5.0sec and a top speed of over 150mph.

Morgan said prices will start at around £94,000 + VAT, meaning a total of at least £110,450. Reservations for cars are being taken on a first come, first served basis.
