The Chevrolet Cruze will be available with a new 1.7-litre diesel engine. The new model will go on sale in May, priced from £16,725.
The new 1.7 VCDi diesel unit produces 128bhp and is capable of a claimed 62.7mpg, with CO2 emissions of 117g/km.
Chevroletwill initially offer the new powerplant in five-door hatchback versions of the Cruze. Estate versions will follow later in 2012. The engine will not be offered in the four-door saloon variant.
The base-model LS is equipped with air-conditioning and electric mirrors and windows. Top-of-the-range LTZ versions add cruise control, automatic headlights, climate control and rain-sensing wipers as standard.
