Compact saloon benefits from mild facelift

Lexus has announced a package of revisions for the IS saloon, with revised styling, improved safety features and a price drop of up to £1000.

The 2009 Lexus IS will get a restyled front bumper and radiator grille, plus subtle changes to the rear lights. A new SE-I trim level is also being introduced, between the entry-level SE and the range-topping SE-L.

Prices will drop across the range with the base model IS 220d SE now starting at £22,490, a saving of £702 over the current cheapest IS 220d model. Prices for IS 250 SE models will fall by £1057.

Emissions will also fall, with the IS 220d benefiting from a 5g/km reduction in CO2 output, down from 168g/km, lowering it to Band D Vehicle Excise Duty.
