Currently reading: Rolls stretches itself

Rolls-Royce must think that the Phantom isn’t quite luxurious enough. Autocar has uncovered plans for a long-wheelbase version of the £250k super-limo (above). Workers at the Goodwood factory in Sussex were recently told that a stretched Rolls had been given the go-ahead, as had a drop-top based around this year’s 100 EX concept car. They will arrive in the next three years.

When we road-tested the Phantom, we criticised the legroom compared with that in the Maybach 62. A longer wheelbase would address this criticism, and elevate the Phantom even further towards unparalleled levels of passenger space and luxury.
