Sky sets the scene

This is US brand Saturn’s upcoming 2006 Sky roadster, the second in a series of Mazda MX-5-rivalling rear-drive two-seaters based on a new GM roadster platform. Look closely at the front end and you’ll see clues to how future Vectras will look — it’s similar to the new Astra Sporthatch VXR’s nose (right). Insiders say the Sky was also inspired by the Vauxhall Lightning concept and the same basic shape will serve both Saturn and Opel in left-hand-drive European markets. Any chance of a RHD Vauxhall version? Unlikely, say US sources.
