The new Mercedes E63 will stick with the current model’s mighty 6.2-litre V8 engine, slightly retuned to produce around 525bhp. The current version manages 508bhp.
Both saloon and estate versions of the new E63 AMG will be offered, with Mercedes insiders insisting that the car has been developed to offer a far more driver-focused experience than the current model.
AMG engineers have been involved in the development of the current E-class since the project started, with the aim of producing a genuine dynamic rival to the BMW 5-series.
The E63 estate will be go on sale in the UK in early 2010 and should cost around £70,000.
