Honda's Detroit unveiling could father replacement for Japan's highest-regarded supercar

Honda has today released the first sketch of the car that could spawn a replacement for its long-standing supercar, the NSX. It’s called the Acura Advanced Sports Car concept, it’ll first be exposed to the light of day at next month’s Detroit motor show, and the inside information is that it’s got a big role to play in Honda’s future.

Don’t be fooled by the Acura badge; that’s the brand under which Honda sells its premium cars in the states, and the one under which the NSX was sold. There are still no plans to bring Acura to Europe, so this performance car would be sold as a Honda over here. Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui said the ASC represents ‘a glimpse at the next Acura exotic sports car’.

The Detroit motor show should give us the chance to gather more information about this promising car, and to ascertain whether it really is a replacement for Honda’s much-missed mid-engined NSX. We'll bring you more details from Detroit.
