Currently reading: Mini goes extra large

Last week’s scoop uncovered plans for three-, five- and six-door versions of Munich next Mini, but judging by this six-metre limousine, it appears BMW’s still keen to stretch the possibilities that the current car offers. Put together by a specialist coach builder in Los Angeles, the covers came off this Mini XXL at the Olympic Games in Athens. Its six-metre length accommodates six wheels, four doors, and six seats, as well as a flat screen TV with DVD player, and full black leather. Aft of the rear doors there’s even a whirlpool with a detachable roof and room for two. It is powered by the Works-tuned 200bhp supercharged motor from the Cooper S Works.

Mini XXL won’t appear at any of this year’s high-profile motor shows - a BMW spokesman told us that Munich ‘doesn’t want to promote the idea that people could buy one’ – but should be coming to various one-off events in the UK later this year.
