Audi's sportster gets a power boost but prices are unchanged

The iconic Audi TT sports car is set to get a power boost on several models this month, but its OTR prices of between £21,090 and £32,360 will remain unchanged. Orders for the upgraded models can be made this week.

The entry level TT Roadster’s 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine has been increased from 148bhp to 161bhp, which cuts its 0-62mph acceleration time by 0.8sec to 8.2sec and increases its top speed from 133 to 135mph. The higher-powered 178bhp unit featured in the front- and Quattro four-wheel-drive TT Coupé and Roadster models has also been boosted to 187bhp, cutting the manual Coupé's 0-60mph dash by 0.4sec to 7.4sec.

However, to make way for these increases, the 222bhp four-cylinder models have been phased out. The top four-cylinder 237bhp TT Coupe Quattro Sport and the range-topping six-cylinder 3.2-litre 247bhp Coupe and Roadster Quattro models remain unchanged.
