The new US-specification Honda Fit has made its worldwide debut at the Detroit motor show.
The Fit, which will be launched later this year as a 2015 car in the US, will come to the UK sometime in 2015 as the new Honda Jazz. Honda says the third-generation Fit offers increased performance and efficiency thanks to an all-new, longer platform and a new powertrain, dubbed 'Earth Dreams Technology'.
Offered with both conventional engines and as a hybrid, our first drive in the new Jazz revealed that drivers of the old model will find much to like about the new one.
In European specification, the new Jazz is likely to come with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 105bhp. A 1.5-litre engine is also likely in the Hybrid, generating a combined 133bhp and matched to a seven-speed double clutch transmission.
Honda says the new model will be styled to present "the perfect blend of style and muscle with its elegant, well-proportioned exterior that cloaks the true sport [saloon] chassis and powertrain beneath".

Such marketing hogwash! As with the Civic before it, the styling is going off the rails.
What's in a name?
Just as well they have changed the name for Europe
At least Honda have been sensible and avoided foolishness like the Renault Wind or, for that matter the VW Up!
