The new Chevrolet Camaro coupé and convertible has been shown for the first time at the Frankfurt motor show today.
Power comes from the existing 6.2-litre V8 engine – putting out 426bhp at 5900rm and 419lb ft of torque at 4600rpm. Either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission can be chosen.
In manual form, the Camaro will accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.2sec, with the convertible reaching the same speed just 0.2 seconds later.
Revised aerodynamics are said to provide more efficient cooling and stability at high speeds. Chevrolet has added a wider, lower grille, while the functional bonnet vent helps reduce heat and aerodynamic lift. A ‘sculptural’ deck lid, horizontal lamps and a diffuser complete the new design.
Inside, the Camaro boasts a new colour heads-up display and the new Chevrolet MyLink connected radio located in the centre stack; the radio being built around a seven-inch touch screen.
The manufacturer is claiming the latest Camaro represents the most significant redesign since the introduction of the fifth-generation model in 2006.
The new Chevrolet Camaro will cost from £35,320 for the coupé and £40,320 for the convertible when it goes on sale at the end of this year.

That is all it is and fair bang for the buck.Horrible quality and handling and WAAY behind 0-60 when an A45 AMG does 4.1. E63???. S 4Matic is a 4 door and does 0-60 in 3.5 !! Where does that comparo come from ??

Sorry chaps but I would have this over a bmw 3 series. Had one as a rental in america - its cheap fun. Would get the coupe rather than the convertable but for the price the performance etc its a bit of a bargain.
Why follow the herd - plus this engine is pretty bulletproof, yes interior not great but I drive a car not touch the dash.

Pray enlighten us as to how exactly this car is 1965? Or is it just your viiew of the US car industry that's 1965?
Try to think of it as an E63 AMG for less than half the price which for all practical purposes is rather more than half as good.
