The new Hyundai i10 is one of 22 new models or updates to be launched by Hyundai between now and 2017.
Speaking to Autocar at the Frankfurt motor show, Hyundai confirmed that most of those updates will be replacements but several, including a new compact SUV, will be models in new sectors.
Hyundai knows it faces a struggle to get anywhere near the double-digit expansion rate it enjoyed in Europe during scrappage periods several years ago, though, which especially boosted sales of the i10.
That said, the firm is confident in the European car parc. There's some 3.3 million Hyundais in Europe, of which three-quarters are less than seven years old. Hyundai exectives say that could be viewed as 'either as a challenge or an opportunity.'
At present, 95 percent of Hyundais sold in Europe have been designed here. With the new i10 currently gearing up for production in Turkey, 90 per cent of those vehicles will also have been made here.

Impressed by the i40, though if it had a Skoda Superb boot arrangement it might appeal to hatchback buyers.
Scrappage
Yes, many of the cars bought under scrappage discount are now littering te roads of Eastern Europe. I minor boost but perhaps cars are now being bought on merit and image rather than just on price.
