Americans love the Lotus Elise, it seems, as the British roadster has this year exceeded sales expectations by almost 20 per cent. Lotus initially introduced the Elise into the US market in July 2004, and in the year since 2385 cars have been delivered. This further consolidates the position of the 190bhp Elise as the most successful car Lotus has produced in its 57 years of operation.
To meet demand, and prepare for the launch of future models, the UK marque has been opening more dealerships throughout the US, of which there are currently 45.
