Mazda's new 5 midi-MPV has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP crash test result

Mazda's new 5 midi-MPV and the new Fiat Punto supermini are the latest cars to be assessed for their crash performance by Euro NCAP (the European New Car Assessment Programme).

Both cars achieved an impressive five stars for their adult occupant protection and three for child occupant protection - the Mazda proving a surprise success in side impact tests despite its sliding rear doors - but the little Punto scored three stars for pedestrian impact protection to the bigger Mazda's two.
