2005 sales results topple Saab's best ever UK performance

Great Britain became Saab's largest global market in September as the Swedish marque sold 4919 cars - its best ever UK sales performance since imports began in 1960.

That's a 35 per cent increase on last year's sales, despite an overall 3.2 per cent drop in new registrations in the market as a whole. In 2004 Saab recorded its best-ever UK sales, and this year the arrival of the 9-3 1.9 TiD and new SportWagon has seen that result smashed by over 1500 cars with three months of the year left to go.

By the end of September Saab had sold 21,825 cars and growth is expected to continue with the arrival of the facelifted 9-5 in November.
