The first pictures of the Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer have been revealed before the car makes its official debut at the Geneva motor show.
Based on new architecture, this new generation Sports Tourer is 200kg lighter than the model it replaces, and offers 100 litres more boot space. It gets an all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring, as well as a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
It comes with Vauxhall’s latest IntelliLink system with a touchscreen and three rows of buttons, as well as OnStar. The Insignia will offer a new ‘personal assistant’ service that enables the driver or passengers to book a hotel through OnStar. It also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless phone charging is also available.
It’s available with LED matrix lighting, lane keep assist, head-up display, as well as heated seats in the front and rear, along with a heated windscreen. Vauxhall also says it’s the first model to get an active aluminium bonnet which it says improves pedestrian protection.
The all-wheel drive system uses two electrically controlled multi-plate clutches to replace the rear axle differential. The FlexRide chassis enables drivers to select from standard, sport or tour modes which adjust the dampers, steering, throttle response and gear changes on automatic models. It’s available with a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines.

Great improvement, quietly understated
Forget all the tech it'll have, the massive drop in weight should banish its sluggish fuel economy against the competition and make the running costs much more appealing and a pleasure to own.
Feel that I ought to like it, but don't think it will sell well
