903bhp McLaren P1 makes its debut at Goodwood alongside bespoke 12C models

The long-awaited McLaren P1 received its global moving debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The 903bhp P1 was seen in motion for the first time at the festival, alongside new and heritage models from McLaren.

New versions of the 12C also had their global debuts at the event - the McLaren 50 12C spider showcases the bespoke styling options available to customers, while the 12C GT can-am Edition pays tribute to the manufacturer's success in the Can-Am championship.

Billed as the 'ultimate track car', McLaren describes the 12C GT as the "rawest and most powerful 12C built to date."

Alongside the new cars, McLaren is also be paying tribute to its motorsport heritage. Current Formula One drivers Jenson Button and Sergio Perez will be taking to the track at the weekend. The firm will be displaying the M23 F1 car driven by Emerson Fittipaldi in 1974, as well as Lewis Hamilton's championship-winning MP4-23 from 2008.

Ayrton Senna's MP4/4 from 1988 also made its way up the Goodwood hillclimb course, as well as Mikka Häkkinen's 1998 championship-winning MP4-13. Häkkinen's car has already set the current record for the hillclimb course - which stands unbeaten at 41.6sec since being set in 1999.

As well as Formula One, McLaren was showing off its heritage in American Can-Am racing, with cars like Denny Hulme's championship-winning M8D from 1970 running up the hill.
