This year's Goodwood Revival is featuring the world's most valuable car collection, including 15 Ferrari 250 GTOs worth £300m

This weekend’s Goodwood Revival 2012 has opened its doors revealing some of the most exclusive classics seen in the UK this year. Organisers say the cars are worth a combined £600m, making it the world’s most valuable collection of cars.

This year’s event is playing hose to the Shelby Cup, to celebrate 50 of the AC Cobra. The single-make event is in tribute to the man responsible for the iconic model, Carroll Shelby who died earlier this year.

Other on-track parades and demonstrations include the Silver Arrows of Mercedes and Auto Union and a celebration of 50 years of the Ferrari 250 GTO.

Goodwood is also celebrating the life of F1, Indy Car and NASCAR legend, Dan Gurney with a ‘Dan Gurney for president’ campaign and 24 of is most famous racers.

Racing drivers past and present will be competiting on-track, including rally great, Rauno Aaltonen, ex-grand prix stars, Jochen Mass, Derek Bell, Desire Wilson and Jackie Oliver, and touring car stars Gordon Shedden, Anthony Reid and John Cleland.

Last year was my first Revival and I reckon it is a must-see British motorsport event for all fans. Exciting racing, beautiful cars and an atmosphere from years gone by.
