The 2014 BMW 4-series cabriolet has been spotted testing in Italy.
The car was photographed on its way to a benchmarking session, apparently with a 4-series coupé and a BMW M3 in tow. The trio of cars were reportedly on their way to the Alps for performance testing.
This is the first time we've seen the new 4-series with its top down, and in M-Sport trim. A modest weight increase of the standard 4-series coupé is expected, and while the full engine lineup is yet to be announced, the range is likely to centre around the same three turbocharged units aimed at the coupe. These include a 181bhp four-cylinder turbodiesel and a 304bhp six-cylinder petrol.
Prices for the cabriolet should also command a premium over the £31,575 asked for the coupe.
Earlier in the year we spotted a 4-series coupé in M-Sport trim testing on public roads near Munich. Due to go on sale later this year, the coupé will be followed by the cabriolet a year later, following a preview at the Frankfurt motor show in September. The Cabriolet is expected to coincide with the launch of the next M4.
