All-wheel-drive Subaru Levorg to be offered in one high-level trim; on sale from September

The new Subaru Levorg will cost from £27,495 when it goes on sale in the UK from September.

The Levorg, which was first revealed at the 2015 Geneva motor show, is billed by Subaru as a successor to the Legacy Tourer, which was last sold in 2008. It is an all-wheel-drive estate that comes with one engine and trim offering in the UK.

The single engine available is a 168bhp 1.6-litre petrol, which is paired with Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT automatic gearbox. It claims to offer the same performance as the company’s old 2.5-litre boxer engine, with a claimed 0-62mph time of 8.9sec. It also promises combined fuel economy of 39.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 164g/km.

There is only one trim on offer in the UK, called GT. This brings equipment such as automatic lights and wipers, 18in alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, a 7.0in touchscreen satellite navigation system, dual-zone air conditioning and a reversing camera. It also gets metallic paint included as standard.

The interior comes with blue stitched leather trim, while the load bay offers 522 litres of space with the rear seats in place.

All Levorgs sold in the UK will come with a selection of safety equipment that includes a new ‘Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection’ (SRVD) system that detects when a car is driving past when reversing out of a parking space. It also gets a blind spot warning system and lane change assist.

All-wheel drive is standard, as is an active torque vectoring system that brakes the inside wheel through corners to reduce understeer and oversteer.

All the talk of this being a Legacy replacement is just marketing. This is an Imprezza Estate. They hope you wont notice because they changed the name, and added a few thousand to the price. I doubt many will be fooled

I'm sure there are many like me hanging on to their 10 year old, 3 litre petrol, 6 cyl Outbacks, unable to find a worthy replacement. Nothing from Subaru.

has anyone else noticed....

Has anyone else noticed that this is essentially an Impreza (or XV) estate? The a-pillars and door frames are the same. Sneaky!
