Autocar presents the top new car leasing deals and new car discounts for this week

Autocar has rounded up the best new car deals for this week.

With flexible interest rates and discounts available from dealerships keen to push up new car sales, smart motorists can find themselves a great new car deal by shopping around. If you're tempted by a new model, here are Autocar's top leasing and new car purchase deals for this week:

Britain’s best-selling car, the Ford Fiesta, has rarely sold at list price; today, even post-facelift, the discounts are strong. As a result, dealers should be pushed hard, and your best haggling tool is some prior research with an internet broker. Taking a high-spec Ford Fiesta 1.0T 125 Ecoboost Titanium three-door as an example, we found broker orangewheels.co.uk offering one for £12,909, a discount of £2537. Before you sign up to that deal, though, try and find a Ford dealer willing to beat it. Yes, they really do want your custom that much.

The Dacia Duster may be the standard-bearer for the whole Dacia range, but that doesn’t mean its makers aren’t keen to snare buyers. So keen, in fact, that with a down payment, end payment and a willingness to take on finance, you can now have a base 1.6v 105 Access trim 4x2 model for £99 a month over four years. You need to put down a £3112 deposit, however, and make a final payment to own the car, but there's inclusive servicing for three years. Be warned, the finance side to this deal does raise what you pay over the lease term way beyond the Dacia's list purchase price. Full details – including similarly keen deals on higher-spec cars – can be obtained from all Dacia dealers.

The VW Golf remains a staple of the best-sellers' list, but don’t let that discourage you from haggling or exploring internet broker options. Online broker coast2coastcars.co.uk is offering between £1000 and £2500 discounts on a vast majority of cars in the range, peaking with £2507 off the DSG-equipped 1.4 TSI Bluemotion Tech GT, now at £22,067.

Our research suggests that the Seat Mii is the most eagerly lease priced of the VW Group city car trio, which also takes in the Volkswagen Up and Skoda Citigo. A base 1.0-litre S model in three-door format is currently available for £83 per month, with sensible price increments as you go through the range. The best contract hire deal on the base car we found was at fleetprices.co.uk, although that is mileage restricted. Sources suggest that official dealers are offering headline prices not far from that. Negotiate, and you may do even better.

Range Rover Evoque sales are as strong as they get, but if you’re prepared to plump for a less popular powertrain then discounts are attainable. The petrol 2.0-litre Si4 240 Dynamic model in three-door trim raises fuel economy and accessibility concerns, but if you can live with both then drivethedeal.com is offering a £4104 saving, bringing the price down to £37,395.

Jaguar F-type deliveries have barely begun, and the maker claims they are selling like the proverbial hot cakes. However, the canny buyer can already find minor discounts out there. Whichever engine combination you choose, go to coast2coastcars.co.uk, since the online broker is already claiming to be able to secure you a £1440 discount off the list price.

Its 47-year tenure as a new car might be over, but the icon lives on as a cheap, fun used buy

You know the line about top-line luxury car brands never offering a discount? It’s a favourite of salesmen, and it’s not to be trusted. For instance, take a look at internet broker drivethedeal.com, which has a raft of five-figure savings on Aston Martins at the moment. A pre-facelift Aston Martin Rapide is £134,783 – a saving of £17,525, while a base Aston Martin Virage is £134,783, saving £16,331. You don’t need to buy a replaced model, either: the Aston DB9, DBS, Vantage and Vanquish are all there, with big savings attached.

If it sounds to good to be true.....

Its fine to push hard, but some interpret this as being rude. Politeness goes a very long way to an even better deal!
£2500 is an awful lot of money discounted from a new Fiesta. Dealerships have much less profit in them than that.
