Updates bring the electric e-Up in line with the rest of the Up range and prices start at £20,780

The facelifted Volkswagen e-up has been launched today, with subtle tweaks refreshing it to match the rest of the Up range.

The new e-Volkswagen Up has a revised front bumper, as well as a blue strip in the front grille to denote it as an electrified VW model.

At the rear, the light clusters have been subtly redesigned and the bumper has been tweaked. Like the model it replaces, the e-Up is available in five-door form only.

Volkswagen claims a range of around 93 miles for the latest e-Up - the same as for the pre-facelifted model. As before, this can fall to 50-75 miles in cold conditions.

The facelifted e-Up also maintains its predecessor's nine-hour full charging time and takes 30min for an 80% charge.

Volkswagen says an optional wall box charger can fully replenish the e-Up's battery pack in six hours. Including the £500 OLEV grant, the wall box charger costs from £390 fully installed.

Owners of the e-Up can also now monitor the car’s charging progress through its Car-Net e-remote app, as well as view driving statistics and control the air-con remotely. A three-year Car-Net e-remote mobile services app subscription is included in the car’s purchase price and costs around €100 a year (around £85) thereafter.

The price of the e-Up has also risen slightly, partly because the government’s grant for electric vehicles has been reduced from £5000 to £4500. It now costs £20,780. First deliveries are expected to take place in October.

Not

Nearly 21 grand for this smallest car after the government grant. That puts it in the same ball park as Nissan Leaf which is two segments larger. Same size as VW Golf. Another bargain from Wolfsburg! Volkswagen does not look ready for the EV market.
