American company gives a glimpse of its forthcoming model's front-end design, following a recent video of the car drag racing a Ferrari 488 GTB

Faraday Future has released a new image of its upcoming electric SUV, revealing more detail of its front-end design.

The picture shows the car's short bonnet and full wraparound headlights, which mirror the tail-light design that was previewed in earlier images. There's also an illuminated mock grille bearing the Faraday Future logo underneath.

The image arrives days after a video of the SUV benchmark testing against Bentley BentaygaFerrari 488 GTB and Tesla Model X was published onto the internet.

The clip shows the Faraday Future model pulling away from at least one of its competitors, suggesting that a 0-62mph time of less than three seconds is possible.

An earlier clip of the car on track, titled 'Reinvent the Wheel', focuses heavily on the wheels, which also bear camouflage cladding. This has fuelled speculation that in-wheel motors are being used.

The first, as yet unnamed car will be built on the brand's modular underpinnings, called Variable Platform Architecture. The model is due to make its first appearance at the Consumer Electrics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, which takes place between 5 and 8 January 2017.

Faraday Future's first model reveal was the FFZERO1 concept, which was unveiled at this year’s CES in January. The company then set up its own Formula E team with Dragon Racing, in order to aid the development of its EV technologies.

Previous comments from Faraday Future have suggested its line-up will include a hatchback, sports car and MPV, but its SUV is expected to be the first to go on sale. It's thought all will be based upon the brand's variable underpinnnings and will make use of energy-dense lithium ion batteries, co-developed with LG Chem.

I had to rush to be sick. But you're correct, for once. Electric cars are going nowhere.

That thing is horrible

It's so disgracefully vile it comes in a black bin bag ready to throw away.
