Volkswagen has released prices and spec details for two new versions of the Scirocco coupe. The range will now start from £18,790 for the 1.4-litre 158bhp TSI engine, and buyers will also be able to choose a version fitted with VW’s 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, which will cost £19,515 in base trim and £20,440 in GT spec.
Until now, UK buyers have only been able to order the Scirocco with the range-topping 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, and with GT trim.
Despite losing some toys, the basic specification is still generous, including a six-CD autochanger, 17-inch alloys, ACC adaptive dampers, automatic wipers and headlights.
Volkswagen claims that the 1.4 TSI Scirocco will be able to hit 62mph from rest in 8.0 seconds, while returning up to 42.8mpg on the combined cycle.
The TDI manages a 9.3 second 0-62mph time, 55.4 mpg and CO2 emissions of just 134 g/km when specified with the manual gearbox. For an additional £1330 the diesel can be specified with a twin-clutch DSG gearbox.
