Currently reading: New Toyota Aygo to cost from £8595

Toyota's new city car will go on sale in July. An introductory offer will also take Aygo's price down to £7995 thanks to initial £600 discount

The new Toyota Aygo will cost from £8595 when it goes on sale in the UK next month.

The new city car, which made its debut at the Geneva motor show earlier this year and has already been driven in prototype form, is the sister car to the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108. Those models also come to UK dealerships in July.

Base-spec versions of the Aygo cost from £8595, brought down to £7995 thanks to a £600 introductory offer. That's for the standard Aygo x, which gets 14-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights and USB and Auxiliary audio connections.

Higher-end x-play trim adds 15-inch wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning and a multi-function steering wheel, while top-spec x-clusiv models get 15-inch alloys, chrome exterior detailing and Toyota's new x-touch infotainment system.

That introductory offer on Aygo models means that when the car goes on sale it will significantly undercut its sister models. Toyota says the offer will last “for the foreseable future”.

Entry-level models of both the C1 and the 108 both cost £8245, with prices rising to £11,935 for a top-spec C1 Airscape Flair VTi 68 ETG, and £11,845 for a Peugeot 108 in Feline specification.

By contrast, a top-spec Aygo in X-clusiv trim and with an x-shift transmission costs £12,395.
