The new Jaguar XF is the most popular review on autocar.co.uk this week

Jaguar's new XF has topped the list of the most viewed reviews on Autocar for the week ending 21 August. Read below to find out what joined it in the top five.

1 - Jaguar XF

The British car manufacturer's executive saloon has put an end to the Land Rover Discovery Sport's lengthy reign as our most popular online review.

We recently tested both the 2.0D 180 R-Sport and the more powerful 3.0 TDV6 S diesel models. Unsurprisingly, it's the former that is more popular among our online contingent and this 177bhp Ingenium diesel model is likely to be the biggest seller in the XF range.

Jaguar states the BMW 5 Series-rivalling XF is now up to 190kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks to its aluminium-intensive platform shared with the Jaguar XE and a range of more efficient engines that save weight, too.

2 - Aston Martin DB9 GT

Whenever we get our grubby mitts on a new car that emerges from Gaydon's factory, you can be sure it will be a huge hit among readers. And so it is with Aston Martin's last hurrah DB9, even though the model is more than 12 years old now.

This DB9 GT features an increased power hike of 30bhp (now up to 540bhp) from its normally aspirated 5.9-litre V12, as well as an updated interior which includes a revised touchscreen infotainment system and improved switchgear around the centre console.

3 - Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce

Supercars are always a popular fixture on autocar.co.uk and they don't come much more outrageous and flamboyant than Lamborghini's Aventador Superveloce.

The passionate Italian car company based in Sant'Agata Bolognese has turned the wick up on the standard Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4's 691bhp 6.5-litre normally aspirated V12 motor, which develops 740bhp at a heady 8400rpm in this Superveloce.

It's also 50kg lighter in this guise and features extra downforce, a recalibrated four-wheel drive system and a revised dynamic steering rack for improved feel and control behind the wheel over the LP 700-4.

4 - Mercedes-Benz V250 Bluetec SE

A surprising entrant and the first van-based large MPV that has featured on our top five most popular reviews list. The replacement for the Mercedes-Benz Viano, this new V-Class is a rival for the Volkswagen Caravelle T6 and Ford Tourneo Custom.

Car review

The Jaguar XF is a sublime British executive saloon. It has a tremendous interior and even greater dynamics

It's also a plusher rival to more conventional seven-seaters such as the Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxy. And in this V250 Bluetec form, it's certainly no slouch given its size, either - the 0-62mph sprint is dispatched in a family hatchback-like 9.1sec.

5 - Vauxhall VXR8 GTS automatic

Bang-for-buck performance cars resonate just as much with readers as exotic supercars because they're far more attainable, while offering 90 per cent of a supercar's performance in the real world.

Take Vauxhall's VXR8 GTS, for example. It's a car close to our hearts here at Autocar Towers, starring in last year's 'Best Cars of 2014' feature and holding its own against opposition that were three times more expensive. It's clearly popular with our readers, too; despite only going live on our website midway through the week it's already made it onto our list.

It's now offered with a six-speed torque-converter equipped automatic transmission, so what's it like compared to the six-speed manual version? Click here to read our verdict.
