Interior and exterior components make the new-for-2019 3 Series look a little sportier

BMW has revealed a range of M Performance parts for the new 3 Series, which was revealed at the Paris motor show earlier this week.

The M Performance parts include revisions to the car’s bodywork, exhaust and lights, plus upgrades to the wheels and brakes.

The bodywork additions all have aerodynamic or weight-saving properties and are available in matt black, gloss black and carbonfibre finishes. These are mirror caps, a front splitter, a rear spoiler, a rear diffuser and side sill trim, while smoked lights and tailpipes made of carbonfibre and titanium are also available.

Four sets of wheels, sized either 18in or 20in and finished in black, grey or bicolour, are offered and come with storage bags for when not in use.

Red-finished brake callipers mark out the M Performance 18in braking system, which improves braking response with larger, perforated and grooved discs that are lighter than the standard units to reduce the car's unsprung mass.

On the inside, 3 Series owners can specify a new M Performance steering wheel with a red top marker, carbonfibre shift paddles and contrasting stitching, as well as open-pore carbonfibre interior trim pieces. Special floor mats are also offered.

The new 3 Series will go on sale in early 2019, with a greater focus on driver enjoyment and technology than the outgoing model. Testament to this is BMW’s proliferation of M-badged offerings in the range, with both the BMW M3 and lesser M Performance variants being offered for the first time.
