The second model in Peugeot's 308 range has arrived. The 308 SW will debut at the Geneva show next month and is due to go on sale in June this year, offering what Peugeot describes as 'an alternative for customers who found that a hatchback lacked the flexibility they required, and were uninspired by conventional estate cars.'Up to seven people can be carried in the 308 SW thanks to an option of two occasional seats that are fitted in the boot. They don't fold flat into the boot floor but they can be removed altogether – as can the main rear seating, leaving a maximum load capacity of 2149 litres and 674 litres with five seats in place. In order to achieve the added interior space, the 308's wheelbase has been extended by 100mm and the rear overhang now measures 124mm. In addition to the extra space, many of the design features of the recent 207 SW have been carried over, including the opening rear tailgate glass and panoramic glass roof.Engine range will be the same as in the 308 hatch, with the addition of the freshly upgraded 1.6-litre, 175bhp petrol engine which will make its first appearance in the new 308 GT.Prices are due to be announced nearer the car's launch, but expect the 308 SW to start at around £14,000.
